Energy Express seeks volunteers for summer reading program

Volunteers are needed in Monongalia County and across the state to make a difference in youngsters’ lives this summer.

Looking for a rewarding way to spend your summer? Consider applying to serve as an AmeriCorps member with Energy Express.

You would be joining the thousands of students who volunteered their services to West Virginia.

In 2019, over 470 college students and community members served to make a difference in the community.

Energy Express is an award-winning, rewarding eight-week, summer reading and nutrition program for children living in West Virginia’s rural and low-income communities.

Applications are open until April 9, although positions are expected to fill up. To serve, you must be 18 by June 11.

Energy Express will be June 11–July 31 in 42 counties across West Virginia.

In Monongalia County, sites will be at Mason-Dixon, Mylan Park and Mountainview elementary schools.

While serving, you can earn money for college and give back to your community.

Organizers are also recruiting for community coordinator positions.
