Antonio “Tony” Samuel Fragale, 70, of Morgantown, died March 11, 2020, at the home of his sister in Hummelstown, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 24, 1950, he is a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Sellaro) Fragale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Eugene, and a sister, Kimberly Regina.
He is survived by a sister, Sarah Hancock and her husband Leonard; a brother, Sam and his wife Gay (Stevens); nephews, Leonard Hancock Jr. and Luke Hancock; niece, Lucy Fritz and husband Bryan; great-nephews and great-nieces, Cooper James, Regan Elizabeth, Charles Anthony, Taylor Grace and Dylan Joseph.
Tony graduated in 1968 from St. Francis High School in Morgantown, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. During his senior year at St. Francis, Tony earned the title Mr. Touchdown as most outstanding player. Tony went on to graduate from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He returned to St. Francis to teach physical education, serve as athletic director and coach football, baseball and basketball.
Tony enjoyed playing trivia for fun and competitively. He spent winters in Estero, Fla., where he enjoyed playing bocce and organizing social gatherings with his group of close friends in the Island Club community.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Francis School to benefit the athletics program. Checks should be made payable to St. Francis, noting in the memo line, Coach Fragale or Antonio S. Fragale.
