John Brock

John Millard Brock, 48, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at WVU Medicine, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Morgantown on April 29, 1971, a son of the late Millard and Ruby Virginia Stanley Brock.

John worked as a frac supervisor for Calfrac. He was close to his coworkers and thought of them as his brothers. John was also dedicated to serving others; serving in the U.S. Army Reserves and being a proud longtime member of the River Road VFD. In his spare time, John enjoyed being in the outdoors; fishing, camping, sitting around the campfire, riding four-wheelers and beach trips with his family. He enjoyed playing Rook and looked forward to the annual “Brock Family Rook Tournament.” John also was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where you could find him cheering them on through the good seasons and the bad. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Smyth Brock; daughters, Kate Brock and Brylee Brock; sons, Gavin Brock and Brayden Brock; granddaughter, Myla Webster; sisters, Debbie Coombs (John), Nora Wierbonski (Stephen) and Ellen Harker (Michael); brothers, Paul Brock (Janet), Tom Brock (Miriam) and Greg Brock (Autumn); and lifelong friend, Sammy Livengood.

Flowers will be accepted, but donations to the River Road VFD, 1701 River Road Morgantown, WV 26501, in memory of John, would be greatly appreciated.

Friends may gather at Kingdom: A Community Church, 540 Fairmont Road Westover, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, and again at Kingdom: A Community Church from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 10 a.m. funeral service with the Rev.
