Waltraud “Kitty” DeBarr, 89, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020, at home in Morgantown, surrounded by loving family.
She was born June 19, 1930, in Troppau, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late Franz and Anna Kirchmann. She was raised in Augsburg, Germany and emigrated to the U.S. in 1955. Waltraud was lovingly nicknamed ‘Kitty’ by her friends and family.
Waltraud was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Leroy DeBarr.
Waltraud worked for 40 years at Mylan Labs in the label control department. She loved both the work and her co-workers, enabling her to work until retirement at age 79. After retirement, she cared for her loving husband until his passing at home.
She is survived by three children: Gregory Lee DeBarr, of Southgate, Mich.; Susan Linda Calvert (husband Brad Calvert), of Spraggs, Pa.; and James Christopher DeBarr (Chris), of Morgantown.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Clinton Cramer, of Clarksburg; Brittany Schaum (husband Chris Schaum), of Spraggs, Pa.; and Tonya Martin (husband James Martin), of Morgantown.
She is survived by five great-grandchildren: Cameron and Carson Cramer, Kylee and Wyatt Schaum, and Aubree Martin.
She is also survived by two sisters and one brother – all living in the Augsburg, Germany area: Linde, Hanne-Lori, and Peter.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 9, and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, with Pastor Garry Whitescarver officiating.
Burial to follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton next to her beloved husband.
