4-star lineman Milum signs with West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia has landed arguably its top overall prospect on the entire recruiting board with the commitment of Spring Valley offensive lineman Wyatt Milum.

Milum selected the Mountaineers over a long list of scholarship offers which included Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State and many others giving the football program a massive pick up at a position of need along the offensive line.

Milum, 6-foot-6, 280-pounds, visited Morgantown six times from last June until his most recent trip March 6 and saw enough when it comes to the football program to make the call. Considered one of the top 250 prospects nationally, Milum is an immediate surge to the growing WVU recruiting class as well as the rejuvenated efforts of keeping the best prospects in-state at home.

Offensive line coach Matt Moore served as the lead recruiter for Milum and his connection, as well as the bond he forged with head coach Neal Brown and others helped to make his decision easier.

An impressive athletic specimen, Milum has the frame and the feet to develop into a standout tackle at the college level and it’s no surprise that so many programs were involved in his recruitment.

The Rivals.com four-star prospect took multiple visits to many of his other finalists as well but decided that Morgantown was where he wanted to spend his college career.

Milum, the No. 2 rated prospect in the state, gives the Mountaineers now the top two players from inside state borders last cycle and now one of the nation’s best in this one as the program looks to build a wall around the most talented prospects in-state.

The Mountaineers now sit with four commitments in the 2021 class and are hosting a junior day event Saturday with a number of other talented players on campus.
