CLARKSBURG — Two Morgantown men were sentenced Tuesday on weapons charges in federal court.
DeRon Parrish and Andre Parrish were both sentenced for firearms charges, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced.
DeRon Parrish, 31, was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of firearm as convicted felon in October. DeRon, a convicted felon, admitted to having three shotguns in November 2018 in Monongalia County.
Andre Parrish, 28, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm as drug user in October. Andre, who is prohibited from having a firearm, admitted to having three 12-guage shotguns and a pistol in Monongalia County in November 2018.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Morgantown Police Department investigated.
U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
