Steven R. Areford, 59, of Westover, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at his home. Born in Morgantown on April 10, 1960, he was a son of Allan and Marilee (VanDruff) Areford, of Morgantown.
A 1978 graduate of University High School, Steven was a talented artist and skilled at building or repairing just about anything. He formerly was the lead carpenter for Swola Construction, and more recently had worked for Northco Corp. as a machinist. Many times he was the one called on to fix or repair the mistakes of others. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his loving parents, surviving are two daughters, Tiffany and husband Jason Leonard, of Bloomington, Ind., and Heather Areford, of Morgantown, and their mother, Cindy (Fisher) Areford, also of Morgantown; a grandson Gage Leonard; one brother, Wesley and wife Tammy Areford, of Morgantown, and a sister, Wendy and husband Daniel Hewett, of Parrish, Fla.; a niece, Holly and husband Tyler Grubb, and a nephew, Aaron Hewett.
Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion. A memorial service for family and friends is being planned and will be announced.
