MORGANTOWN — Like your hubcaps?
Avoid Stewart Street.
The vehicular nightmare that is the ever-deteriorating section of road in front of Shorty Anderson’s Auto Service is at it again, prompting the crew at Shorty’s to renew their time-honored tradition of nailing hubcaps to a nearby pole.
“Yeah, we’ve put up 12 in the last two days,” Co-owner Travis Rowan said.
He explained that the current issue began with the West Virginia Division of Highways dug up a section of the road on Jan. 24.
Rowan said they ultimately filled the hole in with a kind of gravel mix and left.
“They basically dug a hole and left it,” Rowan said. “It’s a mess. It’s huge and the water is just coming up out of the middle of it. It’s worse now than it was last summer. You could at least go around the potholes. You can’t get around this.”
He noted that MUB was in the area this past week, improving drainage along Kingston Drive, which connects to Stewart Street at the area in question.
“It’s not MUB. It’s the state. They dug a hole and left and now people are popping tires left and right,” Rowan said.
