Cow and Clementine hosts Ikebana classes in celebration of Valentine’s Day
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Cow and Clementine invited the community to learn the art of Japanese flower arranging.
The downtown gallery and bakery hosted a pair of Ikebana classes Wednesday, taught by Motoko Hattori, head mistress of the Keika-Kazan School.
Participants, who were required to sign up beforehand, left with arrangements and a newfound knowledge of the art form.
Ikebana, also known as Kado, dates back to the 16th century, when flowers were used as offerings in temples. More recently, these arrangements have become more secular in nature. The art is based off of natural landscapes.
