INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The Morgantown High girls’ basketball team got off to a hot start in both halves and managed to hold on to defeat Class AAA No. 8 South Charleston, 52-49, in the Little General Shootout on Tuesday.
Kaitlyn Ammons led the Mohigans (9-10) in scoring with 16 points. Berit Johnson added 13 points.
Morgantown got off to a good start in both the first half and second half — outscoring South Charleston 28-12 in the first and third quarters. South Charleston tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but Morgantown held on to clinch the win.
The Mohigans will play again at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Martinsburg.
