MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia track and field team returns to the road this weekend for the Akron Invitational.
The annual meet at the University of Akron’s Stile Athletics Field House is set to begin at 4 p.m. Friday, and will continue on Saturday, with action starting at 10 a.m.
“The weeks are flying by,” WVU coach Sean Cleary said. “This weekend presents another big opportunity to get on a 300-meter track and prepare for the Big 12 Championship. We garnered some momentum this past weekend at Penn State, and I believe we will continue to do so at Akron.”
Joining the Mountaineers in the Akron Invitational this weekend are Akron, Ashland, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bryant and Stratton, Buffalo, Cleveland State, Dayton, Grand Valley State, John Carroll, Kent State, Lake Erie, Malone, Mount St. Mary’s, Saint Francis, Shawnee State, Toledo, Walsh, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.
The Mountaineers last competed at the PSU National Open last weekend. In all, WVU tallied two victories and seven top-five finishes at Penn State.
