Betty Constance Sisler Rinker, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Betty was born in Terra Alta, on May 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Delphia Dayton and Dessie Grace Severe Sisler.
Betty was a graduate of Morgantown High School and attended West Virginia University. After wedding Alonzo R. Rinker on Aug. 19, 1951, they moved to Baltimore. Returning to Morgantown in 1966 to raise her family, she began her career at West Virginia University in 1968 as a telephone operator in the communications department. She moved on to the Office of Admissions and Records and then the remainder of her career in the Bursar’s Office, where she retired in 1996 after
28 years of service.
She is survived by her children, Alonzo Roger Rinker and Rebecca Hope Rinker, both of Morgantown. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren: JoAnn and Bill Yost, of Morgantown, and their children, Bob, Kevin, Keith and Debbie Miller-Yost; Ann Parkes of Bridgeville, Pa., daughters, Kelli Parkes and Terri Arends; Dick and Carolyn Hamilton of Aiea, Hawaii, and their children, Michael, Kipper, Amy and Stuart Green; Rick and Lucy Pratt, of Lake Lynn, Pa., and their children, Rachael and Ryan and grandchildren Genevieve, Madeline and Maximus, who share her birthday; Don Laurie, of Morgantown, and his children, Dawn Marie and Christopher; and Vincent and Brian John Jones of Pensacola, Fla.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of
47 years, Alonzo Rogers Rinker; siblings, Margaret Hamilton, Ruth Pratt, Mattie Smallwood, William Sisler, Harold Sisler and Charles Sisler; as well as nieces and nephew, Priscilla Laurie, Trudy Jones and Dailey Sisler.
Betty was the matriarch of the Sisler family and will be deeply missed. She enjoyed watching TV, including basketball and golf and was a big Mountaineer fan. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, with visitation from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, and again on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating. Interment service will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
