Shirley J. Friend, 72, of Kingwood, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at home.
She was born March 10, 1947, in Grafton, the daughter of the late Ressie Martin and Hazel Violet Hall Goff.
Shirley was a mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by her son, James M. (Mickie) Tennant, of Morgantown; her daughter, Beverly Bryner, of Pa.; two brothers, David Goff and Samuel Jemley; four sisters, Brenda, Carolyn, Elsie and Marie; two grandchildren, Ashley Tennant and Alex Turner; several cousins; and former husband, James M. Friend.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Tennant.
The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Browning Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral cost.
