Tanya Sue Hlatky, 46, of Bruceton Mills, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Sharon and stepfather, Dwayne (Tiny) Shafer, of Bruceton Mills, and Perry and stepmother, Brenda Metz, of Tunnelton, she was born Aug. 28, 1973, in
Morgantown.
Tanya was a 1991 graduate of Preston High School. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, baking and spending time with her family. She was looking forward to the birth of her granddaughter, Natalie Paige Hilling, due in February.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Shana (Nickie) and her husband, Kyle Hilling, of Hedgesville; a son, Playford (P.J.) Guthrie, of Bruceton Mills; two stepdaughters, Devon Smitley and her companion, John (Jay) Lewis, of Smithfield, Pa., and Adria Hlatky and companion, Codie Foster, of Fairchance, Pa.; three granddaughters: Aubrielle, Natalie and Jazlynn; and three sisters: Liberty (Starr) Shafer and her companion, Matt Wolf, of Bruceton Mills, Billie Sue Metz, of Beckeley, and Misty Metz and companion, Cindy Kremer, of Fairmont.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 10 years, John Hlatky, and a brother, Perry Curtis Metz Jr.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills from 11 a.m Thursday, Jan. 30, until the 2 p.m. service in the funeral home with Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Parnell Cemetery in Cuzzart.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
