Michael Fox

Michael Eugene Fox, 71, of Westover, passed away early Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Point Manor Personal Care Home, of Point Marion, Pa.

Born June 22, 1948 in Waynesburg, Pa., he was the son of Patricia Ann (Downey) Fox, of Morgantown and the late Kester Eugene Fox.

Survivors include his wife of more than 40 years Michalene Dorich Fox; his son, Jason Matthew Fox, his wife Megan, and their two sons Eli and Lincoln, of Ft. Mill, S.C.; his siblings, Joyce Flynn, of Royal Oak, Mich., Judy Mackey and husband Ben, of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Gary Fox, of Morgantown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Fox.

Mike graduated from Morgantown High School, class of 1966. He was a brick mason by trade for 30 years from 1966-1996. Lastly, he worked for Genesis Health Care for 20 years from 1998-2018.

Mike was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for several years and was actively involved in their music ministry. He enjoyed gardening and being able to share the vegetables that he grew with others. He was a scout leader in the Westover Boy Scout Troop 46.

Friends may join the family to honor Mike’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and at St. John University Parish, 1481 University Ave., Morgantown from 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, where he will lay in repose until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. Following the Mass, Mike’s wishes for cremation will be honored by his family.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to conclude the evening visitation.
