KINGWOOD — Carly Willis said she considered becoming a veterinarian before becoming a pet groomer.
“I’ve always loved animals,” she said. “I couldn’t put a pet down so I decided to become a groomer.”
Carly is owner of Shear Joy Pet Grooming in Kingwood. The official opening and ribbon-cutting for her business was Jan. 18.
Shear Joy is full-service. Willis said she and her staff “do everything from bathing a large German shepherd to clipping the coat of a little yorkie.”
They also groom cats.
She said she moved her home-based business to the Kingwood Plaza to have more room. Along with grooming, she also stocks toys and a variety of items for both cats and dogs.
“From a small child, Carly always loved animals,” her mother, Melissa Fultz, said. “She would bring home every stray she saw.”
“I bring my four dogs to Carly,” customer Stacy Greaser said. “I highly recommend her. She’s very patient and caring. I’ve been bringing my dogs to her for about a year and a half now.”
Willis said there is a need for pet grooming services in Preston County.
“It’s so needed for pets to get proper grooming and bathing,” she said. “We try to make grooming as stress-free as possible. I spend time with each pet. I care about each and every one of my clients. This is personal to me.”
Shear Joy Pet Grooming is located at 161 Plaza Court, Kingwood. To make an appointment or for more information about grooming services call 304-329-7099.
