An Enterprise man was found with a stolen firearm in Westover early Sunday morning, according to police.
Michael A. Rose, 25, is charged with persons prohibited from possessing firearms by the Westover Police Department.
Officer J. Carver spotted a suspicious car in an alley off Dunkard Avenue with a man in the driver’s seat and a woman in the back of the vehicle, the criminal complaint says.
As Carver approached the vehicle, the man repeatedly reached towards his right side, ignoring commands to stop and show his hands, the complaint says. The man was removed from the vehicle and a loaded .22 caliber HGR revolver was in a tan holster on his side.
He was identified as Rose and a criminal check showed he had a conviction for receiving or transferring stolen property and is not allowed by law to possess firearms, according to the complaint.
A check of the gun revealed it to be stolen from Bridgeport, the complaint says.
Rose said he had the gun on him because “he did not know what he was going to be getting into tonight,” the complaint says.
He was being held in the North Central Regional Jail Tuesday in lieu of $5,000 bond.
