Born September 20, 1939 in Grafton, she was a daughter of the late James D. and Virginia C. (Peters) Robinson.

Charlene is survived by her three loving children, Debra Ann Sarandria and husband Bob, of Delaware, Ohio, Donald Sargent Jr. and wife Brenda, of Waterford, Va., and Daniel Sargent and his companion Christy, of Wheeling; three grandchildren, David Sarandria and fiancé Jessica, Ryan Sargent and fiancé’ Natalia and Lauren Sargent; her caregiver and “honorary brother”, Jeffrey Goodwin; a brother, Oran C. (Mike) Robinson and wife Patty, of Cheat Lake; her sisters, Katherine Chin and husband Nelson, of Charleston, and Crystal Wilson and husband Keith, of Morgantown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Daniel Sargent on Dec. 24, 2017; and two brothers, Dennis D. Robinson and Walter E. Robinson.

Charlene was a devoted wife and mother who took pride caring for her husband, children and family. She was proud of her early career working in administrative positions at several prestigious firms in the Washington D.C. area, as well as for West Virginia University.

She enjoyed cooking — particularly ethnic dishes, studying history and antiques. She was an avid reader, and always looked forward to a good intellectual discussion.

Friends may join the family to honor Charlene’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 until the time of her funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Nathan Goodin. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at East Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made either to Amedisys Hospice, 5007 Mid-Atlantic Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508, or to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501.
