Girl Scouts share 2020 lineup, promote leadership program

Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, local Girl Scouts and their families geared up for cookie season with Cookie Palooza on Friday at Chestnut Ridge Church.
There, they shared the lineup of 2020 cookies — including a brand-new lemon cookie — and how the cookie sale program is meant to help girls learn the skills they need to be leaders in their own lives.

“Lemon-Ups,” the newcomer this year, is a crispy lemon cookie baked with lemon glaze and emblazoned with inspiring messages.

The cookies feature eight motivating messages — “I am a go-getter,” “I am innovative,” “I am a risk-taker,” “I am a leader,” “I am bold,” “I am creative,” “I am strong” and “I am gutsy.”

Lemon-Ups will join Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils, Girl Scout S’Mores and Toffee-Tastics as part of the 2020 cookie lineup.

“We’re so excited to add this new lemon cookie to our lineup,” Beth Casey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond, said in a release. “Lemon-Ups will be a crowd-pleaser, and best of all, it was inspired by our girls and incorporated their favorite phrases that embody what Girl Scouts is all about.”

Each cookie sale supports the Girl Scouts and related activities that help them to develop business skills while donating to area churches, volunteering in their communities and working with legislators.
