KINGWOOD — An Albright man pursued by Monongalia County Police was arrested Saturday in Preston County.
According to criminal complaints, Duane Matthew White, 35, is charged with battery on an officer in relation to the Saturday arrest. He also was served with a warrant charging him with obstructing an officer in a Dec. 6 incident.
Monongalia County police said White had outstanding warrants. Information on those charges was not available Monday. He was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Monday on the Preston County charges.
According to a criminal complaint by Preston Deputy R.A. Stockett Jr., Mon County deputies told Preston that White was driving a green Jeep Liberty on Hileman Road. Preston deputies put stop sticks at the intersection of Hileman and Mt. Grove roads.
When the Jeep didn’t arrive, deputies began searching and Stockett found it behind a garage on Hileman Road. When White did not obey an order to stop walking toward the Jeep, Stockett deployed his Taser.
White continued, getting into the Jeep and punching Deputy Stockett in the mouth and just below the left eye before being restrained.
The Dec. 6 Preston charge relates to an incident on Hudson Mill Road, when White allegedly fled from State Police Sgt. A.S. Taylor and Trooper A.L. Barnette in a dark colored Jeep.
