Learnie Lemley

Learnie Clyde Lemley, 90, of Pentress, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 30, 1929, in Daybrook, a son of the late Russell Lemley and Bertha Moore Lemley. He was the last surviving member of his family.

Learnie was a retired coal miner and the caretaker of the Olive Cemetery. He was a member of the Olive United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school. He enjoyed working with wood, especially making gifts for his grandchildren.

Learnie is survived by his wife, Laura “Lee Lee” Lemley; two daughters, Charlotte and Mike Haught, of Wana, and Ramona and Alan Wilson, of Blacksville; one son, Buddy and Jeannie Lemley, of Pentress; six grandchildren, Lisa Haught Statler and Gary, Cathy Wilson Chisler and Bruce, Seth Lemley and Chrissy, Shane Haught and fiancée Rose Perroots, Kevin Wilson and Crystal and Caleb Lemley and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Madison Statler, Makayla Wilson, Bo Chisler, Mason Chisler, Lainey Statler, Maggie Lemley, Kaitlyn Wilson, Josie Lemley and Neil Miner Lemley.
Learnie was preceded in death by four sisters, Minnie Tennant, Betty Tennant, Jane Tennant and Cathern Shaw; and three brothers, Winfred Lemley, Leroy Lemley and Bill Lemley.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks, to his care-givers Gerry Rowan and Ronda Stiles and all the wonderful nurses and aides with Amedysis Hospice Care of Morgantown.

Friends may call at the Olive United Methodist Church, Mason-Dixon Highway from 4-7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. on Tuesday until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastors Rose Saunders and John Brosky officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.
