William Earl “Bill” Boggs Jr., 67, of the Brookhaven Community in Morgantown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1952, in Morgantown, and is a son of the late William Earl Boggs Sr. and the late Anna Mae (Adams) Boggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Boggs.
Bill was a 1970 graduate of Morgantown High School. He worked for more than 40 years as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service. He was active with the local chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers and served as a past president.
He was a Catholic by faith and veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam conflict. Bill was a history buff and loved anything to do with the American Civil War. Bill was also well-known as a Little League Baseball coach in the area for many years, and adored his three faithful feline companions Goldie, Emma and Elsie.
Bill’s friends may join to honor his life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. A graveside committal service with the rendering of Full Military Honors will be held at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16.
Anyone wishing to attend the service at the cemetery is asked to meet at the cemetery gates no later than 10:50 a.m. Monday.
