Morgantown may see break in rain, cooler temps

MORGANTOWN — The rain that started early Monday morning might let up Tuesday.

“Even in that break, it may just be more showery instead of a steady rain,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson said.

That possible break could come early this morning but by mid-morning it’ll be back until sometime in the early afternoon, around noon-2 p.m., Adamson said.

Despite the rain, Monday had an abnormally high, high, of 59 degrees, though Adamson said the highest recorded temp in Morgantown on Dec. 8 was 77 degrees.

The end of the rain also means the end of that warm spell. The temperature should start dropping Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with temps in the mid-upper-30s Tuesday night and the low 20s by Wednesday morning, Adamson said.

Wednesday will be a mix of sun and clouds and warm up to just the mid-30s.

Thursday temperatures might reach as high as 40, Adamson said.

On Friday, a storm system should move in from the south and the area’s higher elevations might see some freezing rain. The storm should pass quicker than Monday’s and temps should be in the 40s, Adamson said.
