The Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) welcomed Rhonda Green, bookkeeper, and Michaela Flohr, Mountaineer Country tourism coordinator, as new staff members.
GMCVB’s focus for 2019 was continued growth for both the organization and tourism economy. The efforts are shown in increasing staff numbers alone.
Green, who relocated to West Virginia after a 24-year accounting career in Ohio, maintains all record keeping and handles GMCVB’s accounts payables and receivables for continued financial efficiency. As a 501 C-6 organization primarily funded by lodging tax, there can be many moving parts with these tasks, but Green is confident and excited to be a part of the team.
“I am really enjoying my position as GMCVB’s bookkeeper, and I am looking forward to becoming more involved in the community and all it has to offer,” Green said.
In recent months, many may have read GMCVB’s article, which included information on recruitment for the Mountaineer Country tourism coordinator position. Flohr was the perfect candidate for the role.
“I am thrilled to be hired as the Mountaineer Country tourism coordinator for GMCVB,” said Flohr. “The organization is making the region a better place for us all to work, live and play, and anything I can do to be a part of that is a huge win for me.”
Flohr serves as an extension of GMCVB in both Preston and Taylor counties. She is taking a feet-on-the-street approach to engaging with both communities and generating leads for those areas within Mountaineer Country. After more than 20 years of hospitality experience at Walt Disney World Resort, she is well-prepared and ready to assist the team.
“Many changes have taken place at GMCVB within the last few years, which includes new faces within our offices,” GMCVB President and CEO Susan Riddle said. “We are fortunate to have attracted and recruited an all-star team, who can assist in achieving our mission of drawing more visitors to the region to stay one more night and spend one more dollar.”
