REEDSVILLE — Council members discussed compensatory time and overtime, but made no decision about which to offer town employees.
“Jenmar is down, Fibair is not doing their expansion and ATI is down to one shift. How does this affect our B&O Tax?” Councilman Greg Burke asked.
Mayor Jason Titus said split-shifting the town employees would be the best solution. That would eliminate both time-and-a-half and compensatory time.
No action was taken about whether to use brine water, salt or ashes on the town’s snow-covered roads.
“Brine water is not good for cars or gravel roads,” Burke said. “We talked about ashes and salt.”
Councilwoman Renee Stone said using salt is almost as bad as using brine.
“You remember what it did to my flowers,” she said to councilman Jeff Stone.
Titus said salt couldn’t be used on the town’s gravel roads.
“If the entire town was black topped it would be ok,” he said.
Councilman Jeff Stone said he believed the roads should be cleared before the children went to school.
Council voted to put $1,500 into the purchase of tools for the town and sewer trucks. Burke said the tools would be inventoried and marked and would not leave the building. Council members discussed having the sewer board add an additional $1,500 for tools.
The next meeting of the Reedsville Town Council will be Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
