Grant William Felton Jr., 38, of Terra Alta, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, as the result of a senseless act of violence.
The son of Patti and Grant Felton Sr., of Terra Alta, he was born Sept. 10, 1981, in Oakland, Md.
He was employed by Preston Contractors. He worked his way up to foreman/superintendent. He loved his job and was a dedicated employee.
Grant was an avid outdoorsman. Whether it was exploring trails with his longtime friends, TJ Thomas and Tiff Morris or the rest of his pack, riding his bike with his soul mate, or teaching his kids to fish and hunt, he could generally be found outside. He loved life and made the most of every moment. He portrayed a rough and tough exterior, but everyone that knew him knew he loved to laugh and had a heart of gold. He was the first person to help anyone in need. He frequently participated in fund raising events for children. His favorite organization was Megan’s Angels. He was looking forward to planning for the Christmas for the kids’ event next month.
His pride and joy were his children. He took the role of stepfather at a young age and loved and raised them as if they were his own. He was truly a dedicated family man. He met his wife at age 19. It was love at first sight. He dedicated his life to ensure her happiness. When he wasn’t working, they were always together. There was so much love, happiness and laughter between them and their love and dedication to each other was unbreakable. Grant was a big man with a big personality and even bigger heart. He was well known in his community, well liked and most of all well loved by so many.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 16 years, Heidi Felton; two sons, Briar Felton and Jacob Metheny; a daughter, Whitney Metheny and significant other, Andy Vac; sister and spouse, Kelly and Brian Fike, of Reedsville; father-in-law and spouse, Gary and Rhonda Friend; mother-in-law and spouse, Joyce and Don Wilson; sister-in-law, Shelly Rocha (Josh Hite); brother-in-law and spouse, Greg and Tiffany Smith; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, and from 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, until the 11 service with the Rev. Ray Fankhouser and Pastor A.C. Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
