MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Mountaineers had tricks up their sleeve on Halloween, coming from behind to defeat TCU on a windy and wet Thursday night, 2-1.
The Horned Frogs (10-6-2, 4-3-2 Big 12) got on the board first in the 30th minute when Messiah Bright headed in the dish by Yazmeen Ryan.
The rest of the half was silent, but West Virginia (10-6-2, 5-3-1) came out of the halftime break to shut down the TCU offense and net two goals within a 30 seconds of one another.
Lizzie Mayfield put in the tying goal on an assist by Gabby Robinson at 76.52, and second-leading scorer Alina Stahl curled in a shot at 77:15 to pick up her fifth goal of the season and the game winner.
Prior to the Mountaineer goals, Addison Clark and TCU’s Michelle Slater were both shown red cards in the 59th minute.

The Mountaineers next head to the Big 12 quarterfinal on Sunday in Kansas City, Mo. at Swope Soccer Village.
