Star City Volunteer Fire and EMS hosted a pumpkin carving day for its members and their families.
The spooky decorations are displayed outside the Star City Volunteer Fire Department and lit up at 8 p.m. every night, said Samuel Hamilton, captain of EMS operations.
Hamilton said he wanted to host an event where the department’s staff and their families could take a break from work and enjoy each other’s company while decorating the station for the community.
The turnout for the first-of-its-kind activity was good and 16 pumpkins were carved. All of the pumpkins were donated by the University Town Centre Walmart, Hamilton said.
“Almost definitely,” Hamilton said when asked if the department would carve pumpkins again next year.
