Pauline Morris, 98, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Sundale Nursing Home.
She was born in Langeloth, Pa., on May 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Angelos Gargalianos and Katherine Drosinos
Gargalianos.
Pauline worked as assistant manager at GC Murphy’s in Wheeling and worked at O.J. Morrison Store’s Children’s Department on High Street in Morgantown. She was one of the founding members of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church where, in her younger years, she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also served as treasurer and secretary in the church and was former past president of the women’s auxiliary.
She proudly served as past president of General Daniel Morgan Auxiliary, was an active member of VFW Post 548 Ladies’ Auxiliary and served on District and State Committees as well.
Most of all, she was a wonderful and loving homemaker. Her hobbies included playing bridge and making pepperoni rolls with her great-grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by her son, Andrew Morris Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Morgantown; her daughter, Katherine Sims and her husband, Stark, of Florida; grandchildren, Andrea and Brad Ehmen, of Chicago, Elizabeth and Brian Gifford, of North Carolina, Greg and Beth Morris, of Florida, Nicholas and Jesse Morris, of Tennessee; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Nikki Milanese, of Weirton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Morris Sr.; sisters, Irene Lillikos, Mary Kontos, Athena Diamond and Dian Scotchell; brother, Gus Gargalianos; and niece, Karen Kontos.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. A Trisagion Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Visitation will continue at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 447 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Father David Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
