REEDSVILLE — The town of Reedsville and the Reedsville Sewer Board jointly purchased a new truck.
The two departments will share the vehicle, according to Mayor Jason Titus, who said the truck cost $7,500.
Council discussed making a list of tools needed to stock the truck for town maintenance workers. Titus said the tools would be etched and identified.
Purchasing a laptop computer for town maintenance workers was also discussed, but no action was taken.
In other business, council voted not to allow an exception to the town animal ordinance.
At the Oct. 10 meeting, Ryan Tennant asked council if it could make the exception for his sons to raise hogs for the Buckwheat Festival. Tennant’s sons, ages 8 and 10, are members of 4-H. He said they would have two Yorkshire pigs each from May to September.
Councilman Gregg Burke said he didn’t believe there was ample room for the four pigs.
“I had two pigs,” he said. “They had more room than these will have. They smelled, and I cleaned them every day.”
“Our ordinance specifically says no swine,” Renee Stone said. “There can be no exception to having swine in town limits.”
Council also expressed concerns about complaints from neighbors.
In other business, Titus said John Williams and Colby Goldstrom expressed interest in the Park Avenue project. He said he will arrange a meeting to discuss the project.
Titus said the town has not received any bids or inquiries about cutting down the dead tree in the Reedsville park.
Council went into executive session to discuss employee benefits.
