A Wheeling woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 Saturday.
According to a release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred just before 9 a.m., near the 156 mile marker.
It appears a Chevrolet Trailblazer rolled into the median, and a passenger, Suzanne Stanley, 76, was thrown from the car.
EMS and fire personnel began life-saving measures on Stanley before being transporting her to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She later died of her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Belinda S. Dilly, of Jetersville, Va., was also transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
There were also three dogs in the car that were taken to the Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center for safe keeping.
Mon EMS, Star City EMS, Star City Fire Department and Westover Fire Department also responded to the scene.
