MANHATTAN, Kan. — West Virginia ends its two-game road series Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kansas State.
“Kansas State is a team that is way better than their record,” WVU coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said. “They have been in a lot of close games this year, so we are going to be prepared for a battle on Sunday.”
West Virginia (8-6-2, 3-3-1 Big 12) is 2-0-0 all-time against the Wildcats (3-11-2, 1-6-0) and have outscored KSU 5-0 through two meetings. The Mountaineers enter the match after playing Kansas to a 1-1 draw on Thursday. Enzi Broussard took the early lead in the 5th minute, but the Jayhawks tied the match in crunch time in the 84th minute.
West Virginia held Kansas to that solo goal against a 26-5 K.U. advantage in shots. Rylee Foster tied for a season-high nine saves in the match, and is now tied for No. 2 in the conference with 57 total saves.
Julianne Vallerand still leads the team in goals and points (5 G, 1 assist) while Alina Stahl has four goals.
KSU is led by junior Brookelynn Entz with 10 points and four assists, as well as seniors Laramie Hall and Katie Cramer who both have four goals.
