OLLI seeking volunteers to teach

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at WVU is seeking volunteers to teach classes geared toward adults 50 and older in Morgantown and Charleston during the winter term,
Jan. 21 through Feb. 15, 2020.

One of 124 such programs across the country funded by the Osher Foundation, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at West Virginia University (OLLI at WVU) is a membership organization offering educational opportunities for older adults in an environment with no tests or grades. Non-credit courses, lectures, workshops and field trips are offered in such areas as the arts, economics, health and wellness, humanities, science and math, and more.

“OLLI offers older adults the opportunity to explore a new interest and meet new people, to remain mentally, physically and socially active, and learn simply for the fun of it.” Jascenna Haislet, director of OLLI at WVU, said. “Our members are enthusiastic, engaged and eager students.”

Day and evening classes run one to six sessions, usually two hours per session. Most classes in Morgantown are held at the Mountaineer Mall. Charleston locations vary.

For more information, call the OLLI at WVU office at 304-293-1793 or visit www.olliatwvu.org. The submission deadline for winter course proposals is Nov. 8.
