Hazel Clawges, 75, of Core, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Hazel was born in Morgantown on Jan. 13, 1944, a daughter of the late Raymond and Naomi Verina Fortney Martin.
Hazel worked for many years at Sterling Faucet on the assembly line as an injection molder. Later, she worked as a cook for Monongalia County Schools and enjoyed working with the children. She attended the Wadestown United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Annette Clawges, of Core; sons, Walter Ray Clawges Jr. and wife Schelli, of Morgantown, Yancy Clawges and wife Amy, of Hedgesville, Raymond “Bill” Clawges, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha, Cassidy (Joe), Raymond “Bubba,” Jeremy, Alex and Thomas; and a sister, Sandra Jane Shannon, of Reedsville.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clawges; and a brother Donnie Martin.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and from 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, until the 11 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
