Louie M. Tarantini

Louie M. Tarantini, 87, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Masontown on Aug. 17, 1932, the son of the late Mike Tarantini and Lucy Martinelli Tarantini.
Louie served the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then went on to work as a machine hydrologist. He was known as an avid race car fan, particularly a Jeff Gordon fan. He also had a love of sports and was especially a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU.
He was known by friends and family as a sharp-witted guy with a dash of sarcasm. Louie was very involved with his grandsons’ lives and loved attending their sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patty “Dragon” (Bolyard) Tarantini; daughter, Tammi Benedict and husband, Trace; grandchildren, Joshua Benedict and fiancé, Sammy Guinn and Garrett Benedict; siblings, Giovanni Tarantini and wife, Cecilia, Marianne Moser and husband, Joe, Kathy Dalzot and husband, Rick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Louie was preceded in death by nephew, Michael John Tarantini.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Msgr. Frederick Annie officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery
