Charles Franklin Nine, 75, of Moatsville, passed away on Oct. 13, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Saint George, in Tucker County, son of the late Jacob Richard and Virginia Elizabeth Wotring Nine.
Charles was a carpenter and had worked for Kenneth Bolyard and Pineview Realty. He collected guns, knives and enjoyed making and building things.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Faye Hershman Nine whom he married on Feb. 22, 1965; three children, Charlotte Ann Hershman, of Moatsville, Donald Glenn Hershman, of Moundsville, Melissa Faye Nine Skiles and Michael, of Franklin; three granddaughters, Amanda Hershman, of Rowlesburg, Misty Skiles Bivins and Antonio, of Dover, Del., Miranda Skiles, of Franklin; three brothers, Carl Nine, of Montrose, Jerry Nine and Sue, of Elkins, John Nine and Sharon, of Reedsville; three sisters, Ruby Hershman and Herbert, of Moatsville, Sue Hershman and George, of Moatsville, Francis “Fred” Nine, of Franklin; one sister-in-law, Sharon Nine, of Moatsville; two brothers-in-law, Larry George, of Junior, and Gary Propst, of Franklin; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Michael Skiles; one brother, Richard Nine; three sisters, Sharlet George, Grace Propst, Virginia Ruth Channels and one brother in infancy.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. He will lie in repose at Mount Zion United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, until the 11 a.m. service with Rocky Ridenour officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
