Preston dominated by Bridgeport on the ground in 49-14 loss

BRIDGEPORT — Class AA No. 4 Bridgeport did not take long to exert its dominance on Preston on Friday night, taking a 35-0 lead over the Knights in the first half.

The Indians (6-1) outgained PHS 425-146 — even more so, Bridgeport had 352 rushing yards to Preston’s 51 in the 49-14 BHS win. As BHS has done for a while, it wore the Knights out on the ground. Trey Pancake led Bridgeport with 96 yards, while Cam Cole added 95.

Preston (1-5) quarterback Trevor Thomas scored both of his team’s touchdowns — the first on a 1-yard rush, with the last on a 64-yard pass on Colton Rosenberger.

The Knights will host Washington at 7 p.m. next Friday.
