Cars coming from every direction at intersection
If anyone has been though the intersection of Collins Ferry Road and University Avenue when traffic is heavy, they can relate to this.
This intersection is ridiculously dangerous with cars coming from every direction. When pulling up to the intersection, cars are coming toward Collins Ferry, past Collins Ferry along with traffic pulling out onto University Avenue from Suncrest Middle School on Baldwin Street, and cars turning from University Avenue onto Baldwin Street and out of the Kroger gas station.
Then there are the cars coming along University to turn left into the Prete Building parking lot, many using no blinkers indicating they are about to turn left. So, there are cars coming from four directions into one intersection, twice daily with school buses involved. This intersection is a hazard that calls for a stop light.
In the evening, we have cars coming from at least three exits from the Prete (WVU ) parking lot added to the already congested area which creates more hassle. Closing one of the exits off would certainly help in the evening.
I know a roundabout was discussed, and I have no idea whether or not it would help, but something needs to be done.

British court ruling
a sign of things to come
On Tuesday, a British court ruled that belief in the Bible was “incompatible with human dignity.” This insanity will eventually come to the United States.
That statement came in a case involving Dr. David Mackereth, a devout Christian who had worked as an emergency doctor for the National Health Service for 26 years. He said he was fired from his job because he refused to call a biological man a woman.
The court’s ruling stated: “Belief in Genesis 1:27, lack of belief in transgenderism and conscientious objection to transgenderism in our judgment are incompatible with human dignity and conflict with the fundamental rights of others, specifically here, transgender individuals.”
This is one step away from making owning a Bible a hate crime. Freedom of religion and speech are being criminalized.
I don’t think a society that cannot tell the difference between boys and girls should try to tell me what to believe.

Abandoning our allies will have consequences
UNICEF has reported about 3.7 million children are out of school, and 60 percent of them are female. That’s 1 in every 3 girls attending school in Afghanistan, which is the steepest drop in school attendance in 16 years. In fact, UNICEF stated that “the ongoing conflict and worsening security situation across the country, combined with deeply ingrained poverty and discrimination against girls, have pushed the rate of out-of-school children up for the first time since 2002 levels.”
If America pulls out of Afghanistan as President Trump advocates, what happens to Afgan soldiers and civilians who fought with us there, and what happens to girls getting an education for the first time? I hear nothing about them being abandoned by the administration.
Trump wants us out of South Korea too. He says he doesn’t understand why we’re there. Many of us who enlisted during that conflict know why America is still there — to stop a dictator’s aggression. Will he abandon the South Koreans after so many years?
Trump announced he is pulling our troops out of Syria, abandoning our European and Syrian-Kurdish allies. God only knows how many Kurds will perish by American-built Turkish airplanes if and when that occurs. If that weren’t bad enough, Trump announced this withdrawal without even consulting the Kurds or our allies.
The administration will deny this but the Kurds and Europe were stunned by the announcement as were U.S. politicians. Trump previously has shown his lack of conscience at home by his efforts to eliminate health care for the poor and his attempts to tear children away from parents seeking asylum. Now, untethered by the absence of Gen. James Mattis, he shows his lack of conscience internationally by what is a brutal blunder in Syria. He seems not understand or doesn’t care that Kurdish lives and our reputation as a dependable ally are at stake. I dread what may come next; Afghanistan or Korea?
