Mylan Park announces Aquatic Center membership opportunities are now available.
Set to open Nov. 1, the 90,000-square-foot Aquatic Center will house a community pool with six 25-yard lanes for lap swimming, accessible zero-depth entry, six water slides accommodating all ages, an outdoor splash pad, a variety of water-play features and more.
In addition, designated lap swim hours will be scheduled in the eight-lane 50-meter Olympic-sized competitive pool with movable bulkhead that can be configured for short or long course, holding over 750,000 gallons of water.
“We want to build an aquatics culture here in Morgantown. Getting people involved at all ages is important for health, fitness, water safety and drowning prevention,” said Jennifer Lainhart, associate director of aquatics and programs.
Members can enjoy a 1,600-square-foot fitness room with cardio and functional equipment, dual selectorized stations, free-weights and stretching areas.
Membership options range from individual, to couple (any two individuals), to family (up to six related individuals) rates. Day and multi-visit passes will also be available in one-, five- and 10-punch passes, which may be used by any member of the family, any time for up to one year after purchase.
Memberships can be pre-purchased now for the Nov. 1 opening of the aquatic center. With a membership to the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park, a member can have the added benefit of a 10% discount on park-wide programs.
An annual membership commitment paid up front receives a 10% discount to the membership total. Military, seniors and WVU faculty/staff have access to additional discounts with proof of I.D. during the pre-sale at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m Monday-Thursday. On or after Nov. 1, all membership purchases can be made at the aquatic center welcome desk. Community memberships not requiring proof of I.D. are available online (mylanpark.org/the-aquatic-center/) for purchase at any time.
The center’s operating hours will be from 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
“This facility will promote life-long health development in an innovative, friendly and well-maintained environment and is dedicated to improving the overall quality of life for the greater Morgantown community,” said Keith Hernstrom, general manager/ executive director.
