MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia volleyball team carries a four-match win streak into Big 12 play as the squad heads to Lubbock, Texas, for a nationally televised match at Texas Tech on Tuesday.
First serve from United Supermarkets Arena is set for 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
“We’re excited to kick off Big 12 play on national TV,” fifth-year coach Reed Sunahara said. “It’s good exposure for our program, and I think the girls are excited about it, too.
“Overall, I thought we had a good preseason, and I’m ready to see that momentum carry over into conference play. We just need to stay consistent and take care of our side of the floor.”
The Mountaineers (8-4) and the Red Raiders (10-4) will meet for the 17th time overall and 15th time in league play since WVU joined the Big 12 in 2012. The all-time series is knotted at eight, with the two teams splitting the series in 2018. West Virginia won its most recent meeting, defeating Texas Tech in four sets October 2018. WVU is 3-4 against Texas Tech in Lubbock.
WVU is coming off a good showing in the Mountaineer Invitational tournament — where the Mountaineers defeated Duquesne, Eastern Kentucky and Navy.
Texas Tech rides into Big 12 play on a six-match winning streak — including a 3-0 record at the Red Raider Classic last weekend after defeating Houston, Incarnate Word and UTEP.
