PREP ROUNDUP: University girls shutout Weir 7-0 to close out OVAC regular season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Six different Hawks found the back of the net, as the Hawks (7-2-1) defeated Weir (5-5-1) 7-0 in the teams’ final game of the OVAC regular season.

Tristen Bright got University on the board just four minutes into the match, one-timing a pass from Emily Lattea at the top of the penalty box.

Weir’s defense held firm for the next 20 minutes, but UHS put the game away late in the first period with quick goals from Isabella Bowers, Heather Brunner and Sam Rechter, for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Rechter added her second goal less than a minute after the break, with Kara Lobban and Emily Lattea adding goals soon after. From there, the Hawks cruised to the win.

Lattea finished with three assists, and Lobban and Bowers had one each. Lizzy Edwards and Rachel Works shared the shutout in the Hawks’ net, each making a save.

University next travels to George Washington for a 10 a.m. game on Saturday at the Trace Fork Fields.
