Margaret M. Summers, 96, of Westover, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at her home. Margaret was born June 3, 1923, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late John and Pauline Verderber.
Margaret was a life-long member of the Riverside Community and a member of the Riverside Methodist Church. She was a loving mother who loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Ret. USAF Col. Robert L. Summers and wife Linda, of Tampa, Fla., and Jerry A. Summers and wife Antoinette Bossio Summers, of Morgantown; one daughter, Debra Benson and husband Jeff, of Morgantown; one sister, Delores Mehaulic and husband John, of Fairmont; grandchildren, Lauren Nesselroad and husband Mark, Tyler Benson and wife Alivia, Carley Summers and Jennifer Gelsinger and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Angelina, Annalise, Logan, Elle and Ellis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bernard L. Summers, six sisters and three brothers.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, and also from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Weber officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband at Lawnwood Cemetery.
