MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The No. 11 Mountaineers (2-1-0) rebounded from their Sunday loss to No. 3 Stanford, shutting out High Point (0-3-0) 3-0 Friday night at Dick Dlesk Stadium.
After both groups went scoreless in the first half, Julianne Vallerand led West Virginia in her 36 minutes on the pitch with two goals in the second. Her first came in the 76th minute off the assist Enzi Broussard.
Addison Clark accounted for the second goal, heading it in off Aaliyah Scott’s free kick and past a diving Talia Klimes.
Vallerand put in her second goal of the night in the 84th minute off Jessica Lisi’s corner. The closing minute goal marks her third of the season.
West Virginia maintained possession over High Point and was aggressive at the net, shooting 22 times compared to High Points five. The Mountaineers had an 8-2 edge in shots on, as well as an 11-3 edge in corners.
West Virginia returns to action on Sunday with a road game at No. 6 Virginia. The Cavaliers (3-0-0) are coming off a dominate three-game win streak, shutting out opponents 7-0, 6-0 and 4-0.
