GRANVILLE, W.Va. — Matthew Fraizer scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice in the 10th inning, as the West Virginia Black Bears topped the Batavia Muckdogs 5-4 on Thursday.
Fraizer scored the game-winning run after he reached base with a single, advanced to second on a single by Fraizer and then went to third on a wild pitch.
The Black Bears scored two runs in the ninth before Batavia answered in the next half-inning when Troy Johnston hit a sacrifice fly, scoring J.D. Orr to take a 4-3 lead.
Matt Eardensohn (1-0) got the win in relief while Edison Suriel (3-3) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game.
For the Muckdogs, Dustin Skelton doubled and singled twice, driving home two runs. Albert Guaimaro homered and singled, scoring two runs.
