Reedsville adds fence for safety at town hall

REEDSVILLE – New fencing is in place blocking a drop off next to Reedsville Town Hall.

At an earlier meeting, council discussed removing the posts around a 20- foot area at the end of the building’s concrete front porch. Councilwoman Renee Stone recommended putting a fence to, “keep people from falling over it or stepping over it.”

The new fence was completed the end of July by Councilman Jeff Stone.

In other business at this week’s meeting, Mayor Jason Titus said the town is looking for a maintenance worker. He said someone with heavy equipment experience is being sought but it isn’t required.

Council also discussed purchasing new Christmas decorations. “I like Kingwood’s stars and snow flakes. They are all white lights,” Councilwoman Britney Titus said.

Titus said it would cost $150 per pole for the electric outlets. Council voted to buy three white light snowflakes. “We decided to buy two or three each year,” Stone said. She said the town currently has 16 decorations.

No date was set to clean out the basement at town hall. Stone said volunteers and a truck to haul away junk that has accumulated in the basement are needed.

The next meeting of Reedsville Council will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9.
