MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Trinity’s first football since 2014 made a big splash Saturday, downing Federal Hocking (Ohio) 24-6 in scrimmage play.
“It’s definitely a good way to start out,” coach Marcus Law said. “It gives these kids something to believe in. That was our biggest thing was to get them out and have confidence.”
Drew Boczek impressed in the pocket, going 6 for 8 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Both ending up in the Devon Eldridge’s hands, his first was a 70-yarder and his second a 35-yard score.
“Drew is a playmaker. He’s a competitor, too,” Law said.
Levi Teets and Calvin Blount, Jr., picked up scores as well. Teets picked up 61 yards on five rushes, one of which was a 50-yard run ending in his only touchdown. Blount picked up 90 yards on 12 carries and logged a 26-yard touchdown.
Overall, Trinity had 179 yards on the ground and 185 yards in the air. The defense held Federal Hocking to 75 total yards with Carter Anderson, Matt Gadd and Eldridge combining for 16 tackles.
