‘No major changes’ to Sabraton Sheetz according to company spokesman

The Sheetz convenience store at 1901 Earl L. Core Road in Sabraton is slated to re-open Sept. 13, after being closed since early July for a nearly three-month overhaul. But don’t expect any significant changes when it does re-open, a company spokesman said.

“Sheetz regularly rebuilds its store locations in order to provide the best customer service and to help our employees best deliver on their menu offers,” said Nicholas Ruffner, public relations manager for the Altoona, Pa.-based convenience store chain.

The Sabraton Sheetz opened for business in September 2003 and is considered by the chain as an older store, which necessitated the renovation.

When it re-opens next month, the 5,563-square-foot store will feature both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as the capability of refueling 16 vehicles at one time, Ruffner said.

“The new building will look very similar to the new Sheetz store locations being built across the Sheetz operating footprint each year,” Ruffner said in an email.

Prior to closing in early July, the store had 23 employees, all of whom were offered positions at nearby Sheetz locations. Five positions are currently being advertised at the Earl L. Core Road location and interested applicants can apply at jobs.sheetz.com.

At the present time, there are no plans to renovate the five other Sheetz locations in the Morgantown area. Privately held Sheetz has more than 580 locations in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and Virginia, as well as North Carolina. The company, started in 1952, employs 17,500 people.
