Martin Thomas “Marty” Brand, 69, passed away Monday morning, July 22, 2019, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Morgantown, a son of Russell James Brand who survives him in Morgantown, and the late Virginia Helen Lanham Brand.
Survivors include his companion Judy Duley Wise; two daughters, Trish Lehman Maxfield and husband Randy of Massachusetts, and Sarah Brand Yokum and husband Steve of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Timothy Martin Eikenberry, Aubriana Marie Eikenberry, and Nathan Charles Yokum; a brother, Mark Brand and his wife Sue of Charleston; and a sister, Sue Brand of Morgantown.
Additionally, he is survived by his companion’s children, Tammy Furr, Angie Wise and Bobby Wise and his faithful canine companions, Snickers and Munch.
Marty was employed as a technician at American Homes on the Mileground for many years.
His family would like to thank the nurses and staff of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during Marty’s stays and illness.
At Marty’s request, he has been cremated.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy will be held at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m Sunday, July 28. At 3 p.m., all in attendance will be invited to share their fondest memories of Marty.
