Everett Harrison Auvil, 81, of Arthurdale, died Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Preston Memorial Hospital.
Everett was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Rowlesburg, a son of the late Strauther Meril and Bessie Mae (Bolyard) Auvil.
Beginning at age 16, Everett worked as a custodian at Preston County schools, sawmills and coalmines, before his retirement in 1996 from Kolher after working over 38 years as a cell operator. Everett loved going for Thursday drives with his family around the area and he enjoyed watching the birds around the house and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Melvina Dorothy (Jones) Auvil; one son, Everett Joseph Auvil, of Arthurdale; one daughter, Dorothy May Auvil, of Arthurdale; and three sisters, Waneta Murray, Mary Feathers, both of Newburg, and Guiula Tenney, of Richwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Richard, Donnie and Donald Auvil; and four sisters, Betty Ruth and Elaine Auvil, Viola Stull and Leona May Auvil.
Friends will be received at Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 S. Price St., from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, until the 11 a.m. funeral service in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rotha Hall officiating.
