WVU’s Ladies Huddle set for July 21, will provide more of a ‘family vibe’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — For the first time in the event’s seven-year history, Ladies Huddle will be split into two sessions due to popular demand. The first session will be from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, while the second is set for 2:15-6:15 p.m. at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Ladies Huddle, presented by Civil & Environmental Consultants and is hosted by the Mountaineer Athletic Club and the WVU football program, sold out the previous two years, which forced organizers to create two sessions.

“We sold out the last two years, and two years ago, we sold out in two business days,” said Jamie Hall, assistant athletic director at WVU and donor relations and administration at the MAC. “It has been super popular in the Morgantown area, but we’ve also had people come from nationwide — this year, we’ll have some from Utah, Florida and the Carolinas. We wanted to make sure that more people have access, so we expanded it to two sessions and are accommodating.”

Previously, the Touchdown Terrace in the North End Zone played host, but this year, it will move into the Milan Puskar Center in the South End Zone. Hall said it will be an opportunity for many women to see facility improvements done to that area of the stadium, including the “impressive” training table that was built two years ago.

During the check-in period, participants can shop officially licensed WVU apparel and items, and Hall believes many will be impressed with how many brands are licensed with WVU. Cocktails will be served and there will be photo opportunities with Mountaineer mascot Timmy Eads.

WVU strength and condition coach Mike Joseph and staff will do a weight room demonstration, followed by lunch or dinner, depending on the session. Head coach Neal Brown will have a “chalk talk” about aspects of the program that typically get overlooked, such as academics, nutrition and career development.

Brown’s wife, Brooke, will host a Q&A, along with other members of the coaching staff and their families.

“It’ll definitely have more of a family vibe to it this year,” Hall said.

During the overlap period between each session, participants will work with Brown and staff with drills on the Mountaineer Field turf. There will be eight stations at eight minutes each, including a warm up, athletic training demonstration and more photo opportunities.

Participants will have a chance to vote on a uniform combination the team will wear during a game this season, though which game is to be determined. There will also be a virtual auction through the LiveSource app and items include dinner with Neal and Brooke Brown, signed football paraphernalia, and packages for WVU basketball, golf and baseball.

With over 200 already signed up, several spots remain open and registration costs $125 per person and must be 21 years old to participate. Participants will receive a gift bag that includes a Ladies Huddle T-shirt.
